I would probably have argued that the first "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" trailer released was the best trailer in the whole franchise (and in 2010), but this one blows it out of the water. Maybe I'm biased because they included what I will argue is the most powerful scene in the series in this teaser (hint: Harry walks into the woods), but this is the most cathartic look at the final installment a hardcore "Potter" fan can possibly ask for.
There's a whole lot of new footage in this trailer, but five moments in particular stood out to us. Click on after the jump to see which scenes made our heart beat a bit faster. Be warned, spoilers lie ahead!
Lily Potter Says Good-Bye
This is the second trailer we've had where Lily Potter sets the stage for "Deathly Hallows: Part 2," and we're really glad for that. Lily plays a very significant role in this film and in the larger story, and we're glad she's getting promotional recognition for that (and perhaps some Harry Potter World Cup love from you fans as well!). Also, cute baby Harry, even if it's right before his mother gets killed? We'll take it.
McGonagall Strengthens The Defenses
Professor McGonagall is one of the most underrated but badass professors in the entirety of Hogwarts, and that is shown no more than when she summons the statues of Hogwarts to the castle's defenses. We saw a tease of them in some of the earlier trailers, but here she flat out calls them into battle. Maggie Smith, you are the coolest.
Bye Bye Crabbe
There have only been minimal teases of the big Room of Requirement scene in "Part 2," but here there's a pretty big one: Crabbe falling to his death. Of course, we don't care too much about Crabbe dying in the greater scheme of things, but it's just one of many deaths that have been not-so-subtly shown in the "Part 2" trailers.
"Not My Daughter!"
Okay, so Molly Weasley might not actually say the best line in "Harry Potter" history in this trailer, but we do get to see her in the act of it. If you watch closely enough, you can catch a glimpse of her throwing a killing curse, and if you've read the books then you know what action spurs that response. Watch out, Bellatrix!
Harry And The Resurrection Stone
To be honest with you, I never thought we'd see this scene in a "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" trailer, but I am so glad that we did. There's a lot of Lily Potter in this trailer, but to get her, a post-death [Ed Note: name withheld because it's a spoiler and he's my favorite character, so I'm sad. -JW] and, my favorite, Sirius Black, all in one trailer makes us wonder whether we'll be able to hold back the tears this time around when this scene occurs on the big screen.
