Two sword-wielding men plotting to kidnap and kill soul singer Joss Singer were busted in Britain, authorities said Wednesday.
The suspects were apprehended Monday in a red Fiat Punto near the 24-year-old singer's home in southwest England after police received reports of a "suspicious vehicle," according to BBC News. The pair possessed swords, rope and a body bag as well as maps and aerial photos of Stone's home in Devon, Sky News reported.
"The two men in custody had in their possession information relating to an individual in the Cullompton area and items which lead us to suspect that they may have intended to commit a criminal offense," said Detective Inspector Steve Parker, the lead investigator. It is unclear if Stone was home at the time. She has been informed of the arrests. The men, ages 33 and 30, were not identified but are believed to have driven south from Manchester, 200 miles away in northern England.
"We're unable to say anymore at this time, but I would like to thank the local residents for reporting the suspicious car," Parker said in a statement. "It's important to stress that no properties have been burgled and no individuals have been harmed."
Stone, a friend of Prince William and his wife, Kate, has sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.
