eve online got permission from CCP

Icelandic game producer CCP, which runs the massively multiplayer online role-playing game EVE Online, announced a collaboration with Sony last week on publishing a game for the PlayStation 3 game console.
The game, DUST 514, is described as “revolutionary”. It was presented at a press conference with Sony in Los Angeles on June 6, the day before the E3 conference, one of the largest game conferences in the world, began, Fréttabladid reports.

Thorsteinn Högni Gunnarsson, managing director of business development at CCP, said the agreement includes worldwide marketing of the game, sales and distribution and CCP and Sony will cooperate on the game’s development.

“It is safe to say that this is among the larger agreements CCP has made since it was founded, so this is a pretty big step for us,” Gunnarsson said.

DUST 514 will take place in the same imagined universe as EVE Online but be designed specifically for PlayStation 3. EVE is played by thousands of people around the world on desktop computers.DUST 514 will be revolutionary in the sense that this will be the first time that players on desktop computers and game consoles can work together or compete against each other within the same universe.

“We can imagine that if the players of EVE Online are up in space fighting for the control of solar systems, the players of DUST 514 can participate in the same war but on a different computer and fighting on the ground,” Gunnarsson described.
